George Plimpton

Biography

An American journalist and sports writer, he’s most widely known for works such as for example Paper Lion (1966) and Away from My League (1961). Beyond sports composing, he co-founded the reputed literary publication, The Paris Review. He was an amateur athlete. Also a participatory journalist, he frequently composed about his encounters, including playing quarterback within a pre-season NFL video game; pitching to many all-stars in front of you 1959 All-Star football video game; performing being a trapeze musician for the Clyde Beatty-Cole Brothers Circus, and fighting boxers Archie and Glucose Ray Robinson. He once used the brand new York Philharmonic Orchestra. He wedded his second wife, Sarah Whitehead Dudley, in 1991. Previously, he previously been wedded to Freddy Medora Espy. He performed a small function within the Matt Damon film, Great Will Hunting.

5 Played five minutes in goal for the Boston Bruins against the Philadelphia Flyers in 1977. The Flyers scored only once against him. At the end of the five minutes, the Bruins deliberately threw their sticks on the ice, causing the referee to call for a penalty shot. To the delight of both teams and the Philadelphia fans, Plimpton stopped the shot.
