New York-born musician most widely known as the initial drummer for the seminal indie rock-band Pavement. He produced Pavement in 1989 with youth friend Scott Kannberg. He became known for his antics at Pavement displays, such as offering mashed potatoes to supporters. His father acquired employment in the plastics sector. He and frontman Stephen Malkmus are founding associates of Pavement.
