BLACK inventor from the three-position traffic sign and among the 1st gas masks, which he called a Security Hood. He produced a heroic save in 1916 when he and three others utilized his security hood device to save lots of workers trapped inside a drinking water intake tunnel becoming dug under Lake Erie after an all natural gas explosion and open fire. He employed his own teacher with the income he earned like a handyman for any wealthy Cincinnati landowner. He was the 1st African American surviving in Cleveland, Ohio to get and own a car. He wedded his second wife, Mary Anne Hassek, in 1908 and experienced three kids. He and George Washington Carver had been both outlined in Molefi Kete Asante’s 2002 publication of 100 Greatest African People in america.
