Gail Halvorsen

Most famous mainly because the first “Chocolate Bomber” or “Raisin Bomber” to airlift products to Western Berlin, Germany through the 1948 to 1949 Soviet blockade of the town, this USA Air Force Pilot also became known for his missionary focus on behalf from the Chapel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before becoming a member of america Army Atmosphere Corps in the beginning of World Battle II, he was a pilot using the U.S. Civil Atmosphere Patrol. He later on earned a sophisticated level in Aeronautical Executive. Due to his participation in the Western Berlin Airlift procedure, he was presented with several nicknames, like the “Chocolates Flyer” and “Uncle Wiggly Wings.” He grew up inside a Mormon home in Salt Lake Town, Utah. His 1st relationship, to Alta Jolley, led to five kids; his second relationship (pursuing Jolley’s 1999 death) was to his senior high school sweetheart, Lorraine Pace. USA Army official Lucius Clay was the principal architect from the Berlin Airlift procedure where Halvorsen participated.
