Frederic Auguste Bartholdi

French sculptor known for developing the Statue of Liberty. He also produced the statue of Marquis de Lafayette in Union Square in NEW YORK. He went to the Lycee Louis-le-Grand in Paris and went on to review architecture in the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. The Statue of Liberty was the best structure in NY at that time it had been erected. He wedded Jeanne-Emilie Baheux Puysieux in 1875. He and Gustave Eiffel both done the Statue of Liberty.
