He was a mathematics and chemistry instructor in the senior high school level before learning to be a bodybuilder. Inside a 1968 Mr. World competition, he defeated Arnold Schwarzenegger, producing him among just three body contractors to take action. He wedded Christine Zane in 1969. He was been successful as Mr. Olympia by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
