Frank Kurtz

Father of celebrity Swoosie Kurtz, he was a respected aviator and Olympic diver who won a bronze medal on the 1932 Olympics. He flew in his very own open-cockpit airplane between LA, Mexico Town, and Washington D.C., at age 16. He offered in Australia in Globe Battle II, salvaging damaged bombers for parts. His girl, Swoosie Kurtz, was called after an aircraft he piloted which was dubbed a half of a swan and half of a goose – a ‘swoose.’ His diving skills were first observed by Olympic diving champ Johnny Weissmuller, who prompted him to teach in the activity.
