Emily Haines

Well-known for her use the Canadian rock bands Metric and Broken Sociable Picture, this soprano vocalist also created a single act called Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. Her albums with Metric consist of Live It Out, Fantasies, and Synthetica. She and guitarist Wayne Shaw became romantically involved with 1997 and quickly created a group, Mainstream, that they later on renamed Metric. Metric released its 1st album, Old Globe Underground, Where Are You Right now?, in 2003. She documented her first single album, Knives DON’T POSSESS Your Back again, in 2006. Given birth to in New Delhi, India, as the child of Canadian-American poet Paul Haines, she was raised in Ontario, Canada, having a sister called Avery and a sibling called Tim. She fulfilled fellow vocalist and future Damaged Social Picture collaborator Amy Millan while both had been college students at Toronto’s Etobicoke College from the Arts.
