Ella Grasso


Initial woman elected governor of Connecticut, an office she served from 1975 to 1980. She previously offered her condition as its Secretary of Condition from 1959 to 1971. She went to Mount Holyoke University, in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she gained her Bachelor’s level in 1940. She was the initial female to become elected governor of the US state who was simply not a wedded to a previous Governor. She got two kids with her spouse Thomas. Ronald Reagan posthumously granted her the Presidential Medal of Independence in 1981.
