A twentieth-century American secret novelist, she actually is most widely known for creating the favorite personality of LAPD Homicide Lieutenant Luis Mendoza. Case Pending (1960), her initial novel offering Mendoza, was nominated for the Mystery Authors of America prize. A woman of several interests, she examined archaeology, antique weaponry, gemstones, as well as the occult. She composed under numerous pencil brands, including Anne Blaisdell and Lesley Egan.
