Biography

Initially only likely to come in the pilot, he became most widely known for his focus on TV’s 77 Sunset Strip after he was signed simply because a normal cast member because of popular demand. He was created using the name, Edward Byrne Breitenberger, but he fell his last name for his performing career. He performed the function of Vince Fontaine in the film, Grease. He wedded Asa Maynor in 1962 plus they had one young child jointly. He recorded popular melody with Connie Stevens.

1 In the 1950s he and Troy Donahue "sneaked" through each other's fan mail to see who got the most. In the early 1980s they reunited and helped each other get sober. They have both stayed sober ever since .
2 Was a taxi driver in the late 1940s and was fired for doing push-ups during his break.
3 In July 2002 he was a guest at the Western Film Fair in Charlotte, NC, along with Donna Douglas, Alex Cord, Johnny Duncan, Peggy Stewart, Jean Porter, Steve Mitchell and Kevin Greaves.
4 On 1/23/05 he was ranked #5 in TV Guide's list of "TV's 25 Greatest Teen Idols" /.
5 In 1975, Merv Griffin hired Edd to host a new game-show called Wheel of Fortune (1983). Two half-hour pilots were filmed. NBC bought the show but didn't want Byrnes as host. Griffin replaced him with Chuck Woolery (who was later replaced with Pat Sajak).
6 Father of Logan Byrnes, a news anchor for FOX's affiliate in Hartford, CT.
