Dr John

Biography

Grammy Award-winning musician and singer-songwriter who included jazz, blues, zydeco, and funk into his music. He proved helpful as a manufacturer at Ace Information when he was 16 years of age. He was inducted in to the Rock ‘n’ Move Hall of Popularity by John Star in 2011. He wedded Kitty Yellen. He motivated Dr. Tooth, the Jim Henson Muppets personality.

1Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on March 14, 2011. The other inductees were Darlene Love, Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Leon Russell and Tom Waits.
2Was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
3He was originally a guitar player, but after getting his index finger nearly shot off in an effort to protect band mate and friend Ronnie Barron, he switched to piano/keyboards.
4Was the inspiration for the character of "Dr. Teeth", the band leader of "Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem", on Jim Henson's The Muppet Show (1976).
