Biography

U.S. Navy make who was simply the 1st African-American receiver of the exclusive Navy Mix. He done his family’s plantation before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1939. He terminated anti-aircraft bullets at Japanese attackers and led hurt American sailors to security during the Assault on Pearl Harbor. He was among four sons given birth to to Henrietta and Connery Miller. He was the main topic of Gwendolyn Brooks ‘ poem “Negro Hero.”
