German songwriter and music manufacturer best known to be an integral part of the group Contemporary Speaking from 1984 to 1987 and from 1998 to 2003. Before he is at Contemporary Speaking, he was an associate of the music group Monza in 1978 as well as the pop trio Weekend in 1981. He created music for many popular performers, including Anna Garcia as well as the pop group Contacté. He was wedded to Erika Sauerland from 1983 to 1994, plus they got three kids. He was also wedded to Verona Feldbusch for four weeks and later got a boy with model Stefanie Küster. He was a judge on your competition present Das Supertalent along with model Sylvie Meis.

After making fun and offending some candidates vulgarly as juror on Deutschland sucht den Superstar (2002), a German federal agency, comparable to the FCC in the US, announced an investigation (January 2007).
In December 2006, two men entered his house, fettered his girlfriend Carina and two employees and forced him to give them about 60,000 Eur. After he had managed to escape and call the police, the offenders fled. The public considered it quite unusual that he was interviewed by tabloid "Bild" and TV network RTL just two hours after the crime had happened.
Formed the pop duo "Modern Talking" with Thomas Anders in 1984. They split up in 1987, but tried a successful comeback in 1998 and performed until 2003. Although being criticized for playing the same song in countless different versions, they had several number 1 hits through Europe such as "You're my heart, you're my soul" (1985), "Cheri Cheri Lady" (1985) and "Brother Louie" (1986).
Global sales of all records he has produced exceed 165 million units.
Lives on his mansion near Hamburg.

His former mother-in-law, mother of his first wife Erika, died about 2004 and was buried in Dransfeld near Göttingen, Lower-Saxony, Germany.
