Devika Rani

Early Indian film star who appeared 1936’s Achhut Kanya as well as the earned the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. She gained scholarships towards the Royal Academy of Music in London. The 4-minute kissing picture between her and her hubby Himanshu Rai within the 1933 film, Karma, became the longest kissing picture in the annals of film. Her hubby Himanshu Rai founded the studio room Bombay Talkies. She was the first-ever receiver of the Dadasaheb Phalke Prize, which was afterwards awarded to movie director Satyajit Ray.
