A prolific novelist, short tale article writer, and playwright, she regularly set her literary functions in Midwestern towns and/or created plots that involved the transplantation of Midwesterners to NEW YORK. Her best-known functions include She Strolls in Beauty (1928), Change, Magic Steering wheel (1936), A PERIOD to be Created (1942), as well as the Locusts HAVEN’T ANY Ruler (1948). She relocated to NEW YORK in 1918 and resolved in the bohemian mecca of Greenwich Town. She started her writing profession like a freelance essayist and brief story article writer. Her 1st two novels didn’t sell, but her third, a sociable satire called Change, Magic Steering wheel (1936), fulfilled with achievement. She was created in Mt. Gilead, Ohio as the next of three daughters. She went from her abusive stepmother when she was thirteen years of age. Her play, Strolling Down Broadway, was modified for the big screen by Erich von Stroheim; the film edition was entitled Hello, Sister!
