David Lucas

Made many classic commercial jingles. He placed the cowbell into “(Don’t Dread) the Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult. He started writing industrial jingles in the 1960s. His customers included AT&T for whom he created the “TOUCH BASE and Contact Someone” jingle and Meow Combine for whom he created the Meow theme. He also proved helpful as an archive promoter, assisting to raise the airplay of Paul Anka, Frankie Avalon, Sam Cooke, as well as the Everly Brothers. He started singing along with his parents publicly when he was four. His cowbell addition to “(Don’t Dread) the Reaper” was parodied within a “Saturday Evening Live” skit offering Christopher Walken from a 2000 appearance.
