David Bates

Appreciated for his research of molecular and atmospheric physics as well as the chemical composition of interstellar clouds, this prominent scientist and mathematician was the 1970 recipient of the prestigious Hughes Medal. Furthermore, he founded Queen’s College or university, Belfast’s Section of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. He received his technological training at College or university University London and Queen’s College or university Belfast and, through the Globe Battle II years, created nautical protection gadgets for the Royal Navy’s Admiralty Mining Establishment. A committed politics activist and pacifist, he was among the founders of North Ireland’s Alliance Party. He spent his youngsters Omagh and Belfast, North Ireland. His relationship to Barbara Morris started in the 1950s and created two kids. He and fellow Irish physicist Daniel Bradley had been both mixed up in mid twentieth hundred years.
