Biography

A Michigan-born image novelist, he’s most widely known for his 2011 Islamic fairytale, Habibi. His additional award-winning works consist of Good-bye, Chunky Grain (1999), Blankets (2003), and Carnet de Voyage (2004). He briefly went to the Milwaukee Institute of Artwork and Style and subsequently worked well for Dark Equine Comics. He released his first visual book, Good-bye, Chunky Grain, in 1999. He received a Grammy nomination for his cover artwork for the Menomena recording, Friend and Foe. He and his sibling and sister was raised in rural Wisconsin. He grew up like a fundamentalist Christian, but he later on declined his family’s trust. He was influenced by the task of movie director Tim Burton.
