Jazz and golf swing music drummer who all used the Chick Webb music group, which featured the then-unknown Ella Fitzgerald. He proved helpful as a paper boy. His initial professional drumming gig occurred when he was eleven years of age. He turned down the recommendation that he should retire in 1938 when his wellness was rapidly declining because he knew his music group needed to function following the Great Despair acquired wreaked havoc in the group. He was wedded to Martha Loretta Ferguson. He continues to be acknowledged for influencing music made by Duke Ellington.
