Bengali character actor who became known for his work in films such as for example Kabuliwala, Jalshaghar, and Devi. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Prize, the best Indian recognition directed at performers, in 1960. He acted in amateur theater productions and gained the admiration of Bengali theater star, Sisir Kumar Bhaduri. In 1960, he made an appearance in The Goddess.
