Twentieth-century American poet and librettist. His poetry selections include Surprise at Castelfranco as well as the Sense of Event; his co-written libretti are the Bassarids and Elegy for Youthful Lovers. He analyzed at Brooklyn University with the University or college of Michigan. He released his debut poetic function, An Elegy, in 1951. He spent a lot of his summers in Austria and Italy and approved his winters in NY and Greece. He collaborated with W.H. Auden on many libretti. He and Auden had been good friends and, sometimes, lovers. He published the libretto for any 1951 Igor Stravinsky opera entitled The Rake’s Improvement.
