The Dark Cyclone was the first BLACK to try out professional football. He was playing soccer on the Wooster Athletic Association, where his outstanding athleticism caught the attention of Frank C. Schieffer, the supervisor of an area semi-pro soccer team. He eventually managed to get towards the professional leagues, playing for the Shelby Blues. He was created in Cloverdale, Virginia, shifting with his family members to Wooster, Ohio at a age group. Ray Kemp, delivered some twenty years afterwards, also became among the first dark players in the NFL.
