Carrie Nye


Stage and display screen celebrity who was simply nominated for an Emmy on her behalf starring function in Moviola: The Scarlett O’Hara Battle. She also gained a Tony nomination on her behalf efficiency in the Broadway creation of Half of a Sixpence. She produced her Broadway debut in 1960 in the stage creation of ANOTHER String. Due to her wit and her Mississippi accent, she was frequently in comparison to fellow celebrity Tallulah Bankhead. She was the wife of well-known talk show web host Dick Cavett. She starred in Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Called Desire on the Williamstown Theatre Celebration.

1Briefly on the soap opera Guiding Light (1952) in 1984 before her character fell into a pit of quicksand (she told Time magazine that her preferred death for her character was "to be impaled on a hat pin"). She returned to the soap opera in 2003, as a different character and in a role specifically designed for her.
