Biography

Achieved bass guitarist who performed in many albums, including Pet Sounds (the Shore Boys’ eleventh recording). She also documented monitors with Simon & Garfunkel, Sonny & Cher, and many other music artists. She began functioning as a electric guitar instructor when she was still in her teenagers and later started her musical profession being a Los Angeles-based jazz and bebop guitarist. She was often hired for program tasks by music companies Brian Wilson (from the Seaside Children) and Phil Spector. She was raised in Washington condition as the little girl of music artists Dot and Clyde Smith. She performed on Ritchie Valens’ well-known monitor “La Bamba.”

1Kaye was one of a few female artists among the accomplished session musicians of the 'Wrecking Crew' Collective. Her distinctive bass-playing talents were originally rooted in the jazz arena, with the likes of Jazz. She recorded in the Crew for Phil Spector and for Brian Wilson Pet Sounds as the Beach Boys..
2Eclectic jazz musician and one of the most sought after bass players in Los Angeles during the 1960s and 1970s, she played sessions with the very best...from Frank Zappa to Frank Sinatra. Others included are Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand, Joe Cocker, Ritchie Valens, The Beach Boys, The Righteous Brothers, Phil Spector and Motown. When times were slow, her clients would include such novelty items as Tiny Tim and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
3Known for her bass instruction books, they were standard music industry material and, once cited by Sting as important in his early musical education. Over 30 bass and guitar educational books, DVD Courses self-help tutors, used world-wide.
4Started out on guitar in 1949 and worked with Sam Cooke, The Platters and The Everly Brothers. Switched to bass in 1963.
