Carlos Mena

Biography

Spanish conductor and countertenor who is becoming particularly known for his recordings of famous composers like Johann Sebastian Bach. He received formal musical teaching in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Spain. In 2002, he received a Diapason d’Or for his recital of De Aeternitate. His elder sibling, Juanjo Mena, can be a conductor. While their studies at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, he was qualified by Ghent conductor Rene Jacobs.
