Carl Brashear


First BLACK Navy Expert Diver who helped recover a lacking bomb for the environment force, which resulted in receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. In 1954, he became the very first African American to wait the Eating & Salvage College. After dropping his lower leg while recovering a bomb, he became the very first amputee to become certified like a U.S. Navy diver. He wedded 3 x and experienced four kids, DaWayne, Shazanta, Phillip, and Patrick. Cuba Gooding Jr. portrayed him within the 2000 biopic film Males of Honor.

2He was the first Navy diver to return to full active duty as an amputee. In 1966 he was assigned to recover a hydrogen bomb that fell into the sea off the coast of Spain after two US Air Force planes collided. His left leg was injured and later amputated. It was replaced with a prosthetic leg.
