Bud Yorkin

Biography

Director and maker from the Emmy Award-winning Television special An Night With Fred Astaire. He went to Carnegie Mellon University or college in Pittsbugh, Pennsylvania. He co-produced the actions film Knife Runner with Harrison Ford. He wedded Cynthia Sikes in 1989. He aimed the film The Thief Who Found Supper starring Ned Beatty.

1In 1958, he teamed up with Norman Lear to form Tandem Productions, turning out hit shows like Maud, All in the Family and Sanford and Son.
2Held a degree in engineering from Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
3He was originally hired to direct Myra Breckinridge (1970) but quit and was replaced by Michael Sarne.
4He originally wanted a studio to finance and release his film Twice in a Lifetime (1985) but none were interested. He raised money independently by using his share of Tandem Productions, the TV production company he founded with Norman Lear, as collateral, made the film and released it himself.
5Directed wife Cynthia Sikes in Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988) and Love Hurts (1990)
6Daughter Nicole Yorkin is a successful television writer/producer of programs The Education of Max Bickford (2001), Judging Amy (1999), Ally McBeal (1997) and Chicago Hope (1994).
