Referred to as the creator from the Shingle Style architectural style, he also done institutional buildings, mansions, skyscrapers, railway stations, and hotels. He began as an intern at work of Niernsee & Neilson in 1864 before partnering with Ephraim Francis Baldwin. His innovative Shingles Style style was first applied to the William Kent Cottage and W. Chanler Cottage in Tuxedo Recreation area, NY. He wedded Josephine Lee in 1871 plus they had two kids Emily Cost Post and William, the last mentioned of who passed away in infancy. Frank Lloyd Wright was inspired by his architectural functions.
