Brett Whiteley

Avant-garde musician known for his portraits, surroundings paintings, and exclusive sculptures. His “Mind of Christie” symbolized his 1964 desire for murderer John Christie. He had taken artwork classes as an adolescent and finished his first main function, “The Soup Kitchen,” in 1958. He was a two-time receiver of the Archibald Award, an honor honored to Australian family portrait painters. He also gained the Wynne and Sulman awards twice. He wedded Wendy Julius in 1962. He was a modern of American musician Roy Lichtenstein.
