Brent Mydland

Among four keyboardists who also performed using the Grateful Deceased, he used the music group for over ten years and in addition wrote many of the group’s strike tunes, including “Simple to Like You” and “Hell inside a Bucket.” Ahead of his involvement using the Thankful Dead, he created a country rock and roll group called Metallic that released one 1970s strike track, “Wham Bam.” Tragically, he passed away of a medication overdose at age thirty-seven. Given birth to in Germany to American parents, he spent his early child years in the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, California region and attended senior high school in LA. Through the early 1980s, he collaborated with fellow Thankful Deceased member Bob Weir on another music project known as Bobby as well as the Midnites.
