Bradford Washburn

Legendary mountaineer who surveyed, measured, and photographed a number of the world’s highest peaks. He finished his first effective climb at age group 11 on New Hampshire’s 6,200-feet Support Washingon. By age group 16, he conquered the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. He photographed some hill peaks from your doorway of his little aircraft, and climbed up additional peaks along with his 53-pound video camera. His wife, Barbara Washburn, was the first female to climb the Denali maximum. That they had three kids and nine grandchildren collectively. Years after mountaineers like Sir Edmund Hillary climbed Everest, he led a surveying expedition to determine just how high up the maximum was.
