Best known while the sponsor of Dark Entertainment Television’s Bobby Jones Gospel system, this TV character also had an effective career like a Gospel vocalist, earning a 1984 Grammy Honor to get a duet edition (with Barbara Mandrell) of “I’m Thus Glad I’m Standing up Right here Today.” He started his tv hosting profession in the middle 1970s, doing work for a program known as Nashville Gospel. He released a 2010 memoir entitled Make A Joyful Sound. He grew up in Henry and Nashville, Tennessee. He and his wife, Ethel, elevated a kid (her girl and his stepdaughter) called Sonnetta. Gospel vocalist Yolanda Adams got her begin by showing up on Jones’ well-known television program.

1 Inducted into the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 (inaugural class).
2 Inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1964.
3 Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.
4 Has a road (I-520/Bobby Jones Expressway) named after him in Augusta, Georgia.
5 Took up golf as a boy when he was deemed "too sickly" for football.
6 Posthumously retains the title of President-in-perpetuity of Augusta National Golf Club: the home of the Masters Golf Tournament, and a course which he himself designed.
