Bobby Bland

Blues and spirit singer who was simply inducted in to the Blues Hall of Popularity in 1981 and received a Grammy Life time Achievement Prize in 1997. He transferred to Memphis in 1947 and began performing gospel music in groupings that included The Miniatures. He collaborated with B.B. Ruler for just two albums in the 1970s. He was created to his dad, I.J. Brooks, who discontinued him as a kid and later had taken his stepfather, Leroy Bland’s last name. Ike Turner recommended he record singles for Sunlight Information in the 1950s.
