Bill O’Connell

Post-bop, Latin jazz, hard-bop artist. He caused many Latin and non-Latin performers. He was called an arranger, bandleader, and composer. He signed up for Ohio’s Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he analyzed traditional piano. He caused Sonny Rollins and Chet Baker when he was getting started. His regular collaborator and touring friend from 1982 was Dave Valentin. He was raised in Slot Washington, Long Isle. His lyrical design was affected by performers like Herbie Hancock.
