Pianist and spirit singer whose strike one, “The Shoop Shoop Melody (It’s in His Kiss),” visited #1 over the R&B graphs. She started performing gospel music in cathedral at age nine and, by eighteen, she began pursuing a profession in secular music. Among her melody ‘I Can’t Listen to You’ was included in Dusty Springfield, and ‘Obtaining Mighty Congested’ was included in Elvis Costello. She was raised in Greenwood, Mississippi. Cher’s edition of “The Shoop Shoop Melody (It’s in His Kiss)” made an appearance in the shutting credits for the 1990 film, Mermaids and reached #1 over the U.K. graphs, where it marketed over fifty percent a million copies in five weeks.
