He enrolled on the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieure de Musique when he was 12. When he was 16, he was honored the Top Pix. His musical repertoire expanded beyond traditional traditional music and into Brazilian music, earning the Rio de Janeiro International Competition as well as the Villa-Lobos Particular Award in 1962. His family members greatly prompted his early musical advancement, and he started acquiring lessons with Georges de Lausnay when he was seven. He documented the entire piano functions of Igor Stravinsky.
