Benny Harris

Appreciated for his function in the bebop jazz music genre, this self-taught trumpet player and songwriter collaborated with musicians such as for example Earl Hines, Benny Carter, and Dizzy Gillespie. In his mid-teens, he started performing using the renowned jazz pianist Thelonious Monk. He composed “Ornithology,” a 1946 jazz regular that was popularized by saxophonist Charlie Parker. He was raised in NEW YORK and later resolved in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, California. His tune “Reets and I” became popular for bebop pianist Bud Powell.
