Ava DuVernay

Award-winning filmmaker that has earned major vital acclaim as the director of such movies as 2012’s Middle of Nowhere and 2014′ Selma. On her behalf focus on Selma, she became the initial African-American female to get a Golden World nomination for Greatest Director. She was raised in Compton, California and double-majored in British and BLACK Research at UCLA. She founded the film distribution firm The African-American Film Celebration Releasing Movement, intended to assist with the distribution of unbiased African-American movies. She and her two sisters had been elevated by their mom and stepfather. Her film Selma depicts the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery voting privileges marches led by Martin Luther Ruler Jr.
