Augustus Saint-Gaudens

Irish-born American sculptor from the Beaux-Arts generation who was simply viewed as embodying the ideals from the American Renaissance. He was apprenticed to some cameo-cutter and required art classes in the Cooper Union as well as the Country wide Academy of Style. He described his early alleviation portraits as “medallions” and produced a $20 precious metal coin for the united states Mint. He wedded Elizabeth Fisher Nichols. He produced a bust of William Tecumseh Sherman.
