Antonio Sciortino

Maltese sculptor from the statue Les Gavroches, motivated by Les Miserables. He received a Maltese federal government grant to review at Rome’s Istituto Reale di Belle Arti in his early twenties. He became curator from the Malta Museum of Great Arts in 1937. His aunt, Vittorine Sciortino, significantly encouraged his youth artistic skill. His function was inspired with the artwork of renowned sculptor, Auguste Rodin.
