American director of Westerns who frequently collaborated with acclaimed actor James “Jimmy” Stewart in films including Bend from the River, The Much Country, and THE PERSON from Laramie. He started his professional profession as an associate movie director on low-budget images. He would proceed to produce a handful of film noir images to begin with his directing profession including T-Men, Fresh Deal, Border Occurrence, and Side Road. He directed various other Westerns like the Furies, The Tin Superstar, and Man from the Western world. He also acquired several Epics under his belt like the Fall from the Roman Empire. He was initially wedded to Mildred Mann in 1936. They divorced in 1957 which same calendar year he remarried to Sara Montiel, a married relationship that also finished in divorce. Kirk Douglas terminated him as the movie director of Spartacus and changed him with Stanley Kubrick.
