Anita Martinez

Notable to be the initial girl of Mexican-American heritage to serve over the Dallas, Texas City Council, this Republican open public official kept office from 1969 until 1973. She also founded the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico, a community company that marketed Hispanic lifestyle and improved the lives of disadvantaged youngsters. While helping her cafe owner husband along with his Un Fenix establishment, she volunteered for such institutions as the Jesuit Parents’ Membership as well as the Dallas Metropolis YWCA. Through the 1970s, she helped create the Western world Dallas Anita Martinez Entertainment Center. She was created and raised within a poverty-stricken community of Dallas, Tx. Her relationship to Albert Martinez led to four kids. She and fellow open public public Annette Strauss both broke through obstacles in Dallas, Tx, by getting, respectively, the initial Hispanic councilwoman and among the initial feminine and Jewish mayors of the town.
