Andrea McArdle


Actress who also played the name role in the initial Broadway creation of Annie. As a girl developing up in Pa, she analyzed dance. In 1977, while playing the part of Annie, she became the youngest performer to become nominated for any Tony Honor for Best Celebrity inside a Musical. She wedded musical composer Edd Kalehoff in 1988; the few divorced in 2011. She portrayed Judy Garland inside a 1978 made-for-television film entitled Rainbow.

1Publicly criticized the firing of Joanna Pacitti from the titular role in the 1998 Broadway revival of "Annie." Somewhat ironically, McArdle got the role in a similar manner during the original production of the musical, when she replaced actress Kristen Vigard, who was fired from the production just prior to the New York opening.
2Had the cameo role of Star-To-Be in the 1999 Disney version of Annie.
3Her daughter Alexis Kalehoff followed her mother onto Broadway playing the young Cosette in 'Les Miserables' on Broadway in 1996-7.
