After learning to be a Grandmaster in 1968, this champion chess player competed within the 1976 U.S. Open up Chess Competition and in the 1978 Chess Olympiad. In 1964, the entire world Chess Federation granted him its International Expert name. He was inducted in to the Globe Chess Hall of Popularity in 2005. Created and elevated in Leningrad (present-day Saint Petersburg), Russia, he later on settled in america. He defeated Latvian Globe Champion chess participant Mikhail Tal.
