Alisa Weilerstein

A MacArthur Genius Grant-winning classical cellist, she actually is notable on her behalf Leonard Bernstein Prize-winning overall performance in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Event, as well for her Caramoor International Music Event overall performance of composer Lera Auerbach’s 24 Preludes for Cello and Piano. She started training like a cellist when she was simply four years of age and produced her debut using the Cleveland Orchestra at age thirteen. She gained an undergraduate level in Russian background from NY City’s Columbia University or college. She actually is the child of pianist Vivian Hornik Weilerstein and Cleveland Quartet violinist Donald Weilerstein as well as the sister of conductor and violinist Joshua Weilerstein. She and her parents created the Boston-based Weilerstein Trio. She champions and sometimes performs the task of Grammy-winning modern traditional composer Osvaldo Golijov.
