Ali Shaheed

DJ, rapper, and maker who 1st rose to popularity as one-third of the group A Tribe Called Pursuit alongside Q Suggestion and Phife Dawg. He also continued to create the musical collective The Ummah as well as the R&B supergroup Lucy Pearl with Dawn Robinson and Raphael Saadiq. He 1st began studying music at eight years of age from his uncle. He later on started DJ-ing at celebrations around his community. He co-hosted the hip-hop radio series “Mike Check” written by National General public Radio. His uncle Michael Jones was both a bass participant and a DJ. In his debut single recording Shaheedullah and Stereotypes, he presented music collaborations with pop vocalist Sy Smith.
