Alexander Mackendrick

Scottish director of traditional 1950s films, like the Man in the White Suit as well as the Ladykillers. He was created in the U.S. but was raised in his indigenous Scotland where he analyzed in the Glasgow College of Artwork. His feature debut, the 1949 film Whisky Galore, was occur Scotland. He was the cousin of screenwriter Roger MacDougall. He cast Alec Guinness in the lead part for The Ladykillers.
