Al Young

African-American poet who was simply named Poet Laureate of California in 2005. He gained the exclusive American Publication Award for just two of his magazines: The Sound of Dreams Kept in mind and Body and Spirit: Musical Memoirs. He edited a collegiate literary publication during his period at the University or college of Michigan. His early poetry selections include Geography from the Near Recent and The Track Turning Back to Itself. He wedded Arline Youthful in 1963; the couple’s child was created eight years later on. He and poet Frank Stanford had been both given birth to in Mississippi.
