Abby Kelley


Important abolitionist who led the American Anti-Slavery Culture with William Lloyd Garrison and worked to get equal rights for ladies. She experienced a stringent Quaker upbringing, which pressured education for ladies. She also campaigned for equivalent rights for ladies, and visited the popular Seneca Falls convention. She wedded a fellow radical, Stephen Symonds Foster. Angelina Grimke was a fellow abolitionist who argued not merely independence for African-Americans, but complete equality.
